Green Eyes?

Yesterday's update at 7:52pm is that April Rose has green eyes.

Wow - 5 hours after birth, the baby has green eyes. I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure that doesn't really happen that soon. Let me give you the answer of an expert though: http://thescienceexperts.com/answers/why-do-all-newborn-babies-have-blue-eyes

  1. Okay, thank you! I too scratched my head but continued to read the updates when I read the green eyes thing. I could've swore babies are born with only one of two colors depending on a dark eye (brown) or light eye (blue, etc.). Now that you are mentioning this, I remembered wondering this myself.

  2. I thought the EXACT same thing when I read that. My 2 kids that have dark eyes were born with dark slate blue/grey eyes. My light blue eyed child was born with light blue eyes. NO baby is born with green eyes!
Then again, I've been convinced from the get-go that this blog was a scam.

  5. I thought this was strange, too. I have green eyes and my son does, too. But when we were born, our eyes were that dark "are they blue?" color a lot of babies are born with, regardless of the real color. I have never heard of a baby being born with green eyes, ever.

But I thought maybe they were just reaching, trying to experience every detail of their baby. I didn't think it was malicious.

I guess we all have 20/20 hindsight.

  6. I know! I have 7 kids. 1 has brown eyes, 2 have green eyes and 4 have blue eyes. They were ALL born with blue eyes, though, and while my brown-eyed kiddo's eyes changed color within a few months, my green-eyed kiddos eye color didn't fully change until they were 3 years old!

  7. My son was born with very, very dark eyes... nearly black-brown. They have since lightened to a dark brown. So, no, not all caucasian babies are born with blue eyes.

  8. Another Caucasian who was born with dark black/brown eyes here. I will agree and say I've never heard of or seen a baby born with green eyes but I'm not willing to say it isn't possible, especially in a baby with a trisomy. I've known very dark skinned/haired parents who had a trisomy 21 baby with fair skin and BLONDE BLONDE hair. I have two children and one was born with blue eyes and the other with brown. I can't see why it'd be impossible to be born with green, sure doesn't take more melanin than brown that's for sure.
